How far along: 11 Weeks!
Baby Size: A Fig!
Krystal Size:
Same old same old. Nothing new to report.
What's Growing This Week:
This week we are seeing tooth buds forming under our gums and our bones are beginning to harden. Soon our hands will open and close into fists! We have lots of movement but nothing mom or dad can feel just yet. Apparently, now that we have a developing diaphragm we also have hiccups!
Morning Sickness:
Knock on wood, I think the worst of it is over! Lets keep our fingers crossed. I still need to eat every 4 hours or so but I seem to be getting a few less complaints if is more like 5 or 6 hours.
Food Cravings and Dislikes:
Nothing strange or out of the ordinary this week.
What's New in the Baby Room:
Nothing....but we are going to start looking at furniture and things. Not much else we can do until we know if we are having a boy or a girl!
Baby Names & Grandparent Names:
This week is D for.......
Doctors Appointments:
We have a few appointments coming up. One before our trip and one after. Should be able to get to see the little bugger again soon!
What I'm looking forward to:
Well I was looking forward to Football. Then we went to the Ravens pre-season game and I either caught myself a lovely cold or being outside triggered up some allergies. Either way, I have been one unhappy lady the past 3 days. I think things are getting a little better so here's hoping this funk goes away soon!
I started this blog to show our progress over our 9 months to baby bliss! So far we have had 2 wonderful years with our princess and it looks like life may be getting a bit more busy! Stay tuned!

Baby Update Week 10
How far along: 10 Weeks 25% of the way there!
Baby Size: Kumquat!
Krystal Size: About the same. Trying to get some energy back to do some walking! Think I'm looking more round than anything. My friend Kim tells me my new knick name is "Preggers" I think it'll work for now.
What's Growing This Week: We are now a little over an inch in length and we have completed the most critical part of our development. We are swallowing fluid and kicking up a storm...tho I don't get to feel that just yet. There are tiny nails forming on our fingers and toes and some peach fuzz growing on our skin! Our limbs can now bend. Our hands can reach to in front of our heart and our feet are long enough to meet together in front of our body.
Morning Sickness: Has been better. However, if I don't eat every 4 hours or so this little guy makes me pay!
Food Cravings and Dislikes: Major Dislike - PRENATAL VITAMINS!! Whoever invented chewable berry flavored vitamins should be shot! They are terribly gross. Think I'm gonna have to look into a different version. Can't say that anything else is a total turn off, but some smells do get to me. I don't eat a lot of meat, basically just chicken but that has not been very appealing to me lately. What has been appealing is all the veggie food I grew up on. So I might have to take a trip to the store and stock up on some!
What's New in the Baby Room: Nada
Baby Names & Grandparent Names: This week is C for.......
Since no one has made any grandparent name suggestions, I'm throwing out a few for entertainment's sake.
Big Mama! hahaha
Bubbie
Boppa
Boppy I kinda like this one!
Coco
Chief
Coach
Doctors Appointments: We had a doctors appointment last week. We were able to hear the heartbeat!! It was really exciting! They drew 6 vials of blood. I thought I was gonna leave there with nothing left ;-) We are okay to travel, which is good since we are going to Vegas and Wisconsin in a few weeks.
What I'm looking forward to: Football! I'm hoping my jersey's will fit for a while. But even more important, I'm looking forward to looking pregnant! I think right now I'm just looking lumpy and lumpy is not a cool look!
Matt continues to be the world's best husband! I couldn't ask for anyone better. This kid is gonna have one great Dad! Jack continues to make life around here crazy! We have been attempting to leave him out while we are at work and that has come to an abrupt end today. He skillfully got a box off of our kitchen table without knocking anything else over and enjoyed some prenatal vitamins! Then he found his own vitamins and instead of taking the recommended dose of 1 a day he had about 75. Thankfully, I think he will be okay. Mommy and Daddy are going to have to learn how to do some serious baby proofing!

Baby Update: Week 9
How far along: 9 Weeks
Baby Size: Well, I was slightly off on my info last week. This past week we were the size of a kidney bean. During the upcoming week we will be growing from the size of a grape! We're movin up!
Krystal Size: About the same. Some pants fit, others don't. It's like a guessing game to get dressed in the mornings.
What's Growing this week: Well, last week we saw eyelids growing in to cover the eyes and webbed fingers and toes starting to form for some cute little hands and feet! We now have breathing tubes extending down his (or her) throat to the developing lungs. Nerve cells are connecting in the brain but no word yet on if we will be a boy or a girl!
Newly growing this week we will see our little grape is about an inch long. A whole inch! This week we are going to look more and more like a human. Our heart will finish dividing into four chambers, and valves will begin to develop. We will also see the development of tiny teeth this week. All of our vital organs and systems are pretty much in place, they just need to do a lot of developing. Our eyelids are completely fused shut and won't open until 27 weeks. We have tiny earlobes, mouth, nose and nostrils and we are ready for some rapid weight gain.
Morning Sickness:Things haven't been tooooo bad. This past weekend I felt like I had the flu all weekend. Still having my 11 am round of pretzels.
Food Cravings and Dislikes: I did have a craving the other day for some doritos. So my wonderful husband went to the store and got me some! I'm also eating a lot of the veggie breakfast sausages. Don't know why but they are so yummy!
What's new in the baby room:
Matt cleared out the bed and the nightstands this past weekend. So no more guest room. We (and by we, I mean Matt) did some rearranging downstairs and moved the office out of the room it was in and moved the bedroom into that room. Uncle Robby has dreams of a makeover in the basement so he can have his own "space." We'll see how that goes.
Baby Names & Grandparent Names
Okay, the A's did pretty well. So now we are moving on to the B's. Don't forget we need grandparent names too. They can be just as much fun!
Matt's notes:
Wow! Being such an awesome husband can really take it out of you!
Actually, I'm kidding. I'm doing just fine, but obviously I'm just trying to do everything i can to make life as easy as possible for Krystal. It's not too hard if you just think of all the little things, like laundry, dishwashing, cooking, vacuuming, taking the dog out, taking the trash out, grocery shopping (even for 1 item), etc. During one of my grocery runs, i figured it wouldn't hurt if i stopped at the beer store for a few "research samples" ;-)
Krystal was right in her earlier post about it not really sinking in until the sonogram. After seeing the heartbeat, however, its definitely official. And as much as i want to keep tight lipped about it because its still so early, I find I'm having a hard time not telling more people at work about it. But really, thats not a terrible thing.

Baby Update Week 8
How far along: 8 weeks tomorrow
Baby Size:
About the size of a blueberry. Aunt Chelsea wanted to know what size blueberry because there are some pretty big ones out there! My guess is a very small blueberry.
Krystal Size:
Feels like I am getting bigger by the day! At least thats what my pants are telling me when they don't seem to want to fit. I'm sure I've gained a lb or two in the past few weeks. They recommend 1-5 lbs in the first trimester. We'll see what they say I've gained tomorrow.
Whats growing this week:
Hands and Feet! They look more like paddles these days but they are "emerging." We have also doubled in size since last week and we are now about a 1/2 inch long. This week we also have partial eyelid folds growing in to cover our eyes, which by the way already have color! The big question is what color?
Morning Sickness:
Well it seems to come and go. This week the theme is 11 a.m. instead of right when I get up. Which is good and bad. It at least lets me start the day. But stop by my office around 11 and I'm sure to be munching on some pretzels to help get rid of my nausea.
Food Cravings & Dislikes:
They say cravings happen mainly in the first trimester - go figure? I haven't had any "gotta have it" moments but for dinner Matt makes some suggestions and I say yay or nay depending on the stomach. I was happy to avoid eggs for a while but I think that has passed. No pickles and ice cream cravings just yet. Sadly, spicy & some mexican foods are out at least for the time being. Which is sad because I LOVE mexican but right now my digestive system does not love mexican.
What's new in the baby room:
Well, nothing yet. I think we are going to start clearing out the furniture thats in there and move the bed downstairs to the basement. Bye, bye, guest room.
How you can help:
I've decided that I'd like to make this an interactive blog so, each week we are going to put this out there for anyone to comment or give suggestions:
Baby Names and Grandparent Names.
So this week we are looking for names that begin with the letter 'A' next week will be the letter 'B' and so on. To be fair, there is already a chosen boys name so you won't get any brownie points this time around if its a boy but they may come in handy later!

It's a..........
BABY!!
We had our first sonogram this morning at 8 am! They told me to drink 3 cups of water an hour beforehand. So I struggled through and did just that. THEN, we got there and she said, ok now go to the bathroom and empty your bladder. AUGH! All that effort for nothing, oh well. We had what is called a transvaginal sonogram. It's as pleasant as it sounds ;-)
She showed us the baby and the heartbeat! Its very tiny of course but you can see it for sure! I asked if we would be able to hear the heartbeat and she said no. Apparently it is "controversial" as to whether hearing the heartbeat this early on is good for the baby or not. She said unless we go to a high risk place they won't do it. It's not they they can't they just think its safer to wait.
She said the babies heartbeat was 148, which is good. The doctors office called to schedule my next appointment for next week. This should be our last appointment with the nurse practitioner, we will then move on to the doctors. I think the plan for next week will be more of an exam, draw more blood and get our physical history.
I have been doing a little better with food the past 2 days. And this morning wasn't bad at all. So here is hoping morning sickness came and went in a week! Haha.
I am looking forward to football season! It is right around the corner. Hopefully my football attire will fit for a while. I think I may go shopping this weekend for a few other things that aren't fitting just right these days. It's really hard to believe that some things get bigger so quickly! As if they weren't big enough already!
Matt has been wonderful the past few weeks. He comes home and usually finds me on the couch because I'm so tired. He has been making dinner for us and helping around the house! He get's an A++ I think the next thing to add to the list is a weekly picture. I don't think I look much different yet but I sure do feel like my clothes don't fit anymore.
Happy Friday! :-)

So much for eating.....
Well, I was doing okay for a few weeks but that has gone and in its place is indigestion, gas, bloating, nausea and heartburn. How you can have all these things at one time is BEYOND me. I don't know what to eat. Even bland doesn't seem to be working. If only I felt this way in the morning that would be great but its with every meal. I've tried the "mini" meal idea and that doesn't seem to help either.
Oh, and I have been having the most dreams I have ever had. Random things too. Last night we went on a trip on a big bus and drove to get on a cruise boat. Terri was our bus driver for part of the trip! I was rooming with my friend Katie and we couldn't find our room all we kept seeing were bars all over the place and they looked like so much fun but of course I couldn't have anything from there now! Then I realized that I had forgotten to pack my prenatal vitamins! Ugh oh. This is when I woke up to realize that I had forgotten to take them last night! Funny how the brain works!
Excited for our appointment tomorrow! Have to get up early so hopefully I'm not feeling too bad. Have to drink lots of fluids an hour before our appointment. We'll see how that goes!

Our First Rough Morning!
Well, we had our first look at morning sickness. It wasn't terrible but I think we will be keeping a stash of snacks next to the bed! Pretzels seem to help quite a bit these days, so lets hope we don't grow tired of them too soon.
This week we are the size of a lentil bean! Still pretty small. We have our first sonogram this friday and with any luck we may be able to hear a heartbeat!! I think things are slowly sinking in for Matt that we are indeed having a baby. I think the sonogram will really help it to sink in!
We are still waiting to tell everyone but soon my clothes are not going to fit and someone is going to ask. I'm pretty bloated and I think that is affecting the clothes. Guess I'll have to come up with some excuse?!?!
