Baby Update Week 23!

How far along: 23 Weeks!

Baby Size: A large Mango.

Krystal's Weight Gain:: Before or after thanksgiving dinner?? Too much is my answer from here on out!

Maternity Clothes:
I like to be nice and comfy and if anything is too tight around my belly its a no go!

How Mom's feeling:
Older...well not really but I have arrived at 27 and feel pretty confident that I will be 30 before I realize what's happened.

What's Growing This Week:
This week we are the size of a large Mango and we are about 11.5 inches long and just over 1 lb! This little girl has a good sense of movement now and can feel a lot of what I do. Blood vessels are developing in the lungs to help with breathing and she is much more aware of sounds she hears outside the womb. This will help with the transition so that when Jack barks it probably won't bother her a bit.

Baby Movement:
I have noticed a little more consistency with movement. Especially after I eat or drink something and ususally in the evening when I am sitting a little quieter.

Food Cravings and Dislikes:
Nothing new to report here but I am really looking forward to Thanksgiving dinner!!

What's New in the Baby Room:
Daddy has painted the trim and so we are almost on our way to moving in the rest of the furniture. We moved out the guest bed so any guests may have to sleep on the air mattress for now.

I bought all of the pieces to match the room but haven't put any of them in place because we do not have all the furniture in the room just yet.

Baby Names & Grandparent Names:
This week P is for.......

We've decided that we will do a name reveal closer to our expected arrival. I'm thinking a letter a week once we finish with our alphabet of name suggestions.

What I'm looking forward to:
The awesome Thanksgiving dinner I will be consuming in just a few short hours!!!

What I miss:
A fun and fruity drink on my birthday.

Excitement of the week:
Daddy got to feel his first kick!!! We are finally starting to notice more regular movement, though it is slightly more muted then I think it would be if we didn't have an anterior placenta. You have to concentrate really hard in order to feel it. I did have one kick the other day that was pretty strong but sadly I did not have a hand in the right place to feel it from the outside.

The Holidays have arrived and so has the decorating bug! I am thrilled to be decorating for Christmas and can't wait to have everything all set up and looking lovely!

Baby Update Week 22!

How far along: 22 Weeks

Baby Size: We are the length of a spaghetti squash.

Krystal's Weight Gain::
18ish I think.

Maternity Clothes:
I think I am pretty set for the remainder of our duration unless I find a need for a dress for some occasion.

How Mom's feeling:
The energy comes and goes. I am pretty good during the day but by the time I get home I am pretty tired. So it doesn't leave much energy to do things around the house.

What's Growing This Week:
We are weighing in at almost 1 pound!! Thats super exciting! We are about 11 inches long. We are looking more and more like a newborn. We will still have quite a few wrinkles until we fill out a bit more.

Baby Movement:
Movement has been pretty sporadic. If I concentrate really hard I can notice more movements or if I have a little bit of juice that seems to get her moving.

Food Cravings and Dislikes:
Cheese sandwiches have still been hitting the spot. But no new cravings as of late.

What's New in the Baby Room:
Dad has been quite busy this week. He an uncle Ricky put up crown molding in the baby room and it looks fantastic. All we have left to do is paint the molding and then start to put the rest of the room together. I picked up most of the matching pieces for the bed pattern last weekend and we got a rug as well. So as soon as we are done painting we are putting this room together!

Baby Names & Grandparent Names:
This week O is for.......

I know not everyone is very excited about the whole secret name thing but at least for now we are going to keep things a secret. As we get closer we may change our minds.

What I'm looking forward to:
Getting the room all set up and ready to go.
Thanksgiving!!

What I miss:
A good nights sleep is still high on that list. And as always a margarita! :-)

Excitement of the week:
It has been a quiet week not too much exciting. I am however, getting excited for the Holiday's and spending our first Christmas in our new house. The decorating shall begin soon!

Baby Update Week 21!

How far along: 21 Weeks

Baby Size: We are the length of a banana or carrot this week, whichever you prefer ;-)

Krystal's Weight Gain::
Probably 16-17lbs.

Maternity Clothes:
I am enjoying a layered look these days. I am usually freezing in the morning and by the afternoon its like there is a furnace inside of me!

How Mom's feeling:
We are continuing to grow and even getting some comments on how we are sticking out more. I've had some strange feelings lately. I'm thinking its a lot of streching and growing.

What's Growing This Week:
We weigh three quarters of a lb and are 10.5 inches long. We should start noticing more kicks and punches soon. Our eyebrows are now present and since we are a girl all those parts are forming too.

Baby Movement:
I don't remember for sure but I think the tech wrote on one of the pictures that I had a placenta anterior, which means the placenta is attached on the front of my belly and is in between me and feeling the baby kick. Its not anything harmful, just means that we may not be able to feel kicks from the outside just yet. The doctor didn't say anything so I could be having a dream, who knows.

I do think I had a good kick last evening that woke me up as I was sleeping on the couch! I've had a couple evenings where she is really moving and Matt tries to feel it and it either goes away or just isn't quite strong enough to feel from the outside.

Food Cravings and Dislikes:
Sadly, sweets are my weakness right now. Everyday around 3-4pm I am really needing something sweet. So the other day I had a rice krispies treat and enjoyed it so very much I went home and made more.

I also had a craving for a cheese sandwich. Just cheese, mayo and bread, nothing else. So that was my dinner tuesday night and my lunch on wednesday.
Yay for cravings!

What's New in the Baby Room:
Well....I went searching last week for a bed set that would match close enough to the pink walls that we have so that we don't have to paint (and by we, yes I mean Matt. He thinks its funny when I say "we" for things he knows I am not going to do right now.) Anyways, I found one I thought would match but when we got to the store it wasn't quite right but I noticed another one I liked but of course they didn't have it. So I did more research that night to find that Bed Bath and Beyond may have it. So I called and got this lovely woman on the phone who said they don't have it but Buy Buy Baby does (apparently BB Baby is owned by BBBeyond, news to me) so she sent me a 20% off coupon and I went the next day to find it. We got there and I decided I didn't like it as much as I had the day before so we looked around a bit and I found something that I thought would match and it was filled with lots of colors! So we went with that one. Here are some pics..

Baby Names & Grandparent Names:
This week N is for.......
An update on names: Matt and I have decided that we are going to keep the name a secret. At least we are going to try.

What I'm looking forward to:
Pink outfits, pink socks, pink pink pink. Decorating the baby room and getting everything ready. Buying and stocking up on all the baby essentials!

What I miss:
The ability to stay awake past 9:30pm.
Sleeping comfortably through the night.

Excitement of the week:
Finding out we were having a girl. Getting to see the little one and hear her heartbeat is so wonderful.

It was fun to tell everyone and see what everyone thought we were having. Matt has realized that he's gonna be quite the sucker for this little girl and I've realized he's right. Guess that makes me the tough one but hopefully we won't need to be tough for quite a while.

I think even Jack is getting excited about the baby or sad because he know's he's not going to be the center of attention anymore.

Oh Boy, Oh Boy........

Above is the baby's foot

And the Right leg and ankle

Then we have a thumb

And some baby fingers!!

And our profile. Now drumroll please..................

IT'S A GIRL :-)

Matt said he knew it was a girl before the tech even said anything. We are super excited and happy that the doctor said everything looks good. I think matt is just happy he doesn't have to paint the room since it's already pink! Now, we are off to the Baby store!! :-)

Thank you everyone for your congrats! We are super excited. Now all the fun planning can begin!

Baby Update Week 20!

How far along: 20 Weeks! Whoa....we're halfway there!

Baby Size: A small Cantalope...yummy one of my favorite fruits!

Krystal's Weight Gain::
I give up! Well, not really. I think about 14-15 lbs. Doctors scale will tell me something different I'm sure! And lucky me looks like I will gain about one pound a week from here on out! Yipee....

Maternity Clothes:
Enjoying some of my new shirts! I am usually a little chilly in the morning but by the afternoon I am having hot flashes and I am not one to get hot very easily.

How Mom's feeling:
This has been a slow week. If I don't have a good weekend of "recoup" time then I am a slow mover during the week. I think we are having some good round ligament stretching this week. The belly is getting bigger and bigger, which is exciting but not entirely comfortable.

What's Growing This Week:
We weigh in at about 10.5 oz this week and we are about 6.5 inches long. The baby is practicing his swallowing these days. Taste buds are working too. So most things I eat the baby is getting a taste of as well. So now I REALLY have to eat those veggies!

Baby Movement:
We usually have 2 "active" times during the day. Usually mid morning around 10-11 and then again in the evening.

Food Cravings and Dislikes:
I've been doing slightly better at deciding what I want to eat this past week. Still kinda wish I had some type of craving!

What's New in the Baby Room:
Nothing new today, but come tomorrow.....its a whole new story!

Baby Names & Grandparent Names:
This week M is for.......

What I'm looking forward to:
Tomorrow, tomorrow, tomorrow!!! Hoping everything goes well and we get to see this little guy / girl and finally know what we are having! :-) I am SUPER SUPER excited.

I am thrilled to finally be able to buy some things for the baby! Can't wait to see if we are buying pink or blue!

What I miss:
Right now, a good nights sleep. The tossing and turning and frequent trips to the bathroom are not so much fun, especially when the dog takes over your spot by the time you get back!

Soda....and margaritas! I could REALLY go for a margarita!

Excitement of the week:
Most everyone at work is aware that I'm pregnant, a few people are just now figuring it out. I had a family member come to my office today and say "wow, I just saw your belly! Congrats!" So I guess there is no more hiding that I'm pregnant. Which is nice, I'd rather look pregnant than chunky!

Shhhh....don't tell anyone but I got my birthday present a little bit early and I LOVE IT!! Pictures will be so much better now. I really do have the best husband!!

Tomorrow.....11/5/10..... :-) Stay tuned.....

Baby Update Week 19!

Sorry the picture is not so hot....I'm still waiting on a lovely birthday present....

How far along: 19 Weeks!

Baby Size: Heirloom Tomato

Krystal's Weight Gain::
Well I must say the doctors office scale is not my friend! If I go with that scale (tho I had my shoes on) I've gained about 16 lbs. I feel a little more confident that we are right around 13.

Maternity Clothes:
Still loving my comfy clothes! I ordered a few more shirts which arrived yesterday and I will soon be sporting with the cooler weather.

How Mom's feeling:
The energy comes and goes but the lists keep growing! I have a list of projects that seems to never end. Not so sure everything can be done before the baby comes but we'll certainly try.

Mom is sporting a bigger belly these days. I think by Thanksgiving things will be pretty obvious.

What's Growing This Week:
Our baby's sensory development is "exploding" this week! We are designating areas for smell, taste, hearing, vision and touch. I've read that its possible the baby can now hear our voices so its time to start talking away to that belly! We weigh in at about 8.5 oz and are about 6 inches long.

Food Cravings and Dislikes:
I am still waiting on these cravings! I have been desiring a few too many sweets as of late. I've read this could mean we are having a girl.......

What's New in the Baby Room:
Nothing new but mom is ready to pick out a pattern once we know if we are having a boy or a girl!

Baby Names & Grandparent Names:
This week L is for.......

What I'm looking forward to:
The anticipation is killing me and I have just over 1 week to go until the big day! I can't wait to find out!!!

The lucky winner of getting to know what we are having first (outside of Matt and I) is Uncle B. So you better be waiting right by your phone on the 5th!

Excitement of the week:
It's still pretty exciting to feel movement. I had a pretty good kick recently. Some days are more active than others. I can't wait until Dad can feel the kicks too!

I've signed us up for our baby classes. They start in January. I've heard they can be a waste of time but we will get a tour of the hospital so that will be nice.

The doctor told us to start thinking about if we want an epidural or not. She suggested that I get one because "who wants to feel that pain!" I can't imagine that I won't and I know my family will laugh at me and say I am the biggest baby when it comes to pain, but I think I've been doing much better! I'm sure I'll get one though because really who does want to feel that pain!?!???

Baby Update Week 18!

How far along: 18 Weeks!

Baby Size: I've seen two comparisons a Bell Pepper and a sweet potato

Krystal's Weight Gain::
I can say that I am not the biggest fan of the weight gain. I think we are closer to 12-13lbs. this week and I am going to thank the fabulous leftover cake from my mom's birthday! We will have to compare with the doctors scale on Friday.

Maternity Clothes:
I got a wonderful present this week! Lynda got me some new shirts and the wonderful maternity pants that I couldn't live without! Thanks Lynda!!

How Mom's feeling:
Pretty good. I think things are starting to do a bit more stretching around the belly button area. I hear my belly button will pop much like the thermometer on a thanksgiving turkey, only I will be far from done when that happens.

What's Growing This Week:
We are about 5.5 inches long and weigh about 7 oz. This little one is busy flexing arms and legs, which mom is starting to notice. Our ears are in their final location and there is a protective covering that is beginning to form around their nerves and will continue to do so for a year after they are born. This week marks a good chance at determining if we are having a boy or a girl. So only 2 more weeks until the big day!

Food Cravings and Dislikes:
I can say that mentioning Thanksgiving has me excited. I have been in the mood for "something different" lately. I can't say exactly what that something different is, which turns out to be quite a problem! So, if anyone has any yummy food suggestions, I am listening!

What's New in the Baby Room:
Nothing new this week. I think the baby room will be on hold until just after Nov. 5. Then its time to get ready!

Baby Names & Grandparent Names:
This week is K for.......

What I'm looking forward to:
November 5, 2010......20 Week sonogram!! I am so anxious to find out if we are having a boy or a girl!

Excitement of the week:
So this past weekend Matt and I went to the new babies r us in Columbia to look around and check a few things out. There isn't a lot that we can pick out yet since so many things are gender specific but we figure the bigger items we should go more gender neutral so they can be used again.

We were looking at strollers and carseats and let me tell you these things are NOTHING like they were when we were kids. I remember having to take the seat belt and feed it through somewhere to get the car seat to stay in place, now there are self leveling car seat holders! Most of them are now 5 point harnesses as well and there is just one strap you can pull and it tightens up the whole thing. If you get one of the "travel systems" it comes with a stroller and a carseat to match. Then the carseat will sit in the stroller and lock into place so that it won't fall out of the stroller.

Matt and I found this all quite amazing. As we were looking at different brands of travel systems we found that one did not seem to hold the carseat in place as well as some of the others. A kind dad passing by came over to show matt that there were safety hooks that you had to turn in order to get the carseat to stay completely in place. He looked at matt and said don't worry I've been there, you'll figure it out! I was quite entertained.

Tuesday night I was having a quiet, relaxing evening on the couch catching up on some shows and this baby was moving about. It was pretty continuous for about 10-15 minutes or so and then if I changed positions it would stop briefly and then start up again. Of course it wasn't anything that dad could feel. I think we have a few more weeks before that happens. I however am very excited about feeling some movement! I am looking forward to dad being able to feel it as well!

I can't tell if Jack has figured out or "senses" that there is something in mom's belly or not. He doesn't like to cuddle up too close to my belly anymore, tho he has his defiant moments when he wants to stand on my belly. But, I think he is slowly figuring it out. He is usually pretty cautious when he comes to snuggle up with me.
