2012 is going to be a rockin' year! I am so excited to see what the year has to bring! There will be at least 2 major events this year. There is a certain pretty little girl who is turning 1 on March 14 and there is a very handsome daddy who is turning 30 on June 5.
The past month really has been one for the record books.
On January 5 Abigail started taking her first steps, just in time for mom and dad to be heading out of town for our first overnight away from Abigail. So of course it was even harder for mom and dad to leave because Abby was just beginning such a fun stage! Luckily it was just for one night and everyone survived. Mom still holds the record for starting to walk at 9 months but Abigail is not far behind and just shy of 10 months! GO ABIGAIL GO!
Abigail reached the big 10 month mark and is doing great! We are getting so excited to be nearing the 1 year mark. I cannot believe it has almost been a year. It has been the most amazing year!!
Mom joined a meetup group for new moms in our area and we held a playdate earlier this month. Only 2 other kiddos were able to attend but we had a good time. It was lots of fun to see Abigail interacting with someone her own size! Abby was the oldest but certainly not the biggest as our little princess seems to remain on the small side of the charts. They were able to play with all of Abigail's new toys. It quickly became a favorite game to start to hand something to one of the other babies and then quickly take it back! Guess we are gonna have to work on our sharing!
What new foods have we had you ask? What new foods haven't we had is probably a better question. This little kiddo will try just about anything. I was carrying a plate that had some slices of cheese on it the other day along with Abby in the other hand and she reached out and grabbed a slice of cheese and stuffed it in her mouth! Abby likes cheese! We had been doing well with the baby foods but since starting to get a taste of the "real" stuff she pretty much refuses most baby food now. So Abby gets just about whatever mom and dad are eating (within reason) She LOVES tangerines and she just started eating bits of apple. Abigail has enjoyed some breakfast sausage (compliments of dad of course!), waffles, tomatoes, cantalope, green beans, chicken, pasta, hamburger, carrots...the list goes on.
Tooth # 5 AND # 6 began to make their appearance about a week ago. This little bugger has 6 teeth! I cannot believe she has 6 teeth! Crazy! Thankfully they seemed to push their way through without too much problem.
Abigail is starting to try to say new things. dadada was really her first word. Now we are finally saying "mama" Which of course Mama loves! I think it is amazing that she is trying to say Jack. I guess when mom and dad are constantly saying Jack she picks up on it pretty quickly. It comes out a bit more like "Jaa, jaa" but she is looking at him and knows exactly who she is trying to call. Its adorable.
The two of them have really become better friends than I could have hoped for. We do regret teaching her how to "feed" Jack as that now means Jack gets most of the food Abby has on her tray but we are working on it. Jack of course LOVES it. Jack really was afraid of her for a while but he has finally settled in to letting her literally crawl all over him. He is extremely tolerant and we are extremely pleased. Every morning Jack lays at the end of the bed and Abigail crawls over and lays down next to him. They cuddle on the couch quite routinely and Abigail loves to pet him which ends up being a bit more like smacking him but he sits there and takes it. When Abby was sick Jack was very good about cuddling up next to her to keep her warm.
Last Monday Abigail started to show some signs of being a bit under the weather and by Monday evening she had a fever around 101.4. Poor thing was so pathetic. Tuesday morning we went to the doctor to see what might be the issue. First we went over symptoms which wasn't much other than the fever. So we had to check for a UTI. So the nice nurse put a urine bag on Abigail in hopes hat they would be able to run a quick test to see. Well, after quite a little while she finally peed and they went to do the test. Of course taking the urine bag off was not so much fun and who could blame her! The test came back but the urine was "contaminated" so they really couldn't get a good test. Guess what that means......we got to do a catheter! OMG! Dad missed the best appointment we have ever had and by best I mean WORST. I had to hold her top half down while the nurse held the bottom half and the doctor did her thing. It was terrible. I must say I am fortunate enough that we have never heard Abigail scream like that before!
So before leaving the doctors office they said the urine was ok but they would send it for a culture but there was a possibility that Abigail has Roseola, which means she will have a fever for 3-5 days followed by a lovely rash for another 3 days or so. Well the fever continued and we went back to the doctor on Thursday because mom was a bit worried we were getting dehydrated as Abigail was not eating very much at all. The visit didn't get us a diagnosis but mom was pretty certain we would be showing up with a rash the next day. Low and behold 1 am came and so did cranky rashy abigail. Poor thing would just whimper and cry from 1-4 a.m.
So Friday and the weekend brought us a pretty cranky little bambino but today we have broken through and we are our happy go lucky self again!
Abby's has a few new favorite tricks up her sleeve. Waving is a big one. She waves to EVERYONE all the time. She has also started giving "kisses." This is by FAR mommy's favorite thing so far! She has not yet gotten to actually giving kisses by planting one on you but when you say Abigail can I have a kiss? She starts smacking her lips together!! SOOOOOO CUTE!
I started this post a while ago (like a week or two!) and it's time to add another one so I'm skipping pics on this one and will add some on the next! Happy Monday!
